BackgroundUntil the beginning of the 1990's, Magny-Cours was a little known club circuit but with support from the French Government and the backing of President Francois Mitterand, it was totally rebuilt between 1989 and 1991 in order to attract Formula 1. It is now a modern grand prix circuit, with excellent facilities and a challenging mix of long straights, fast chicanes and hairpins.
